Laughing All the Way: Teaching English Using Puns

       In English it has many techniques for teaching in class. Which, techniques are important for teaching in each class because it will motivate students for learning. Therefore, Teacher should be choosing technique that is interest into class such as teaching English by using puns.

       In the article” Teaching English Using Puns” it about some technique that is teaching English by using puns. Teaching English by using puns that is using joke in each class. Which using puns or joke into class it can help students feel more comfortable in their new language. Since, jokes based on word played have additional benefits because they build metalinguistic awareness. In this article it has four categories of English puns that are sound alike puns, lookalike puns, close-sounding puns, and texting puns. The first, sound alike puns are based on homophones which words that sound the same but have different spelling and meaning. The second, lookalike puns that is word that spell and pronounced the same. The third, close-sounding puns it comes from the confusion generated by similar sounding word. And the last one, texting puns  these are based on the increasingly common practice of using the sound or spelling of alphabet letter. Which, using puns in class it helped student understand content and it motivate them while learning. Moreover, it can help students feel more comfortable in their new language.

    Teaching will be complete and succeed when teacher has many  technique for teach and student understand the lesson.

      Today is July 24, 2013. Today I learn about vocabulary teaching, teaching English using ICT, and pronunciation teaching. Which in these days I get knowledge from teacher and my friend. Therefore, I can describe as follows.

       The first, vocabulary teaching it is teaching about new words to students. If students to know many word, students can make a sentence. Moreover, in this method can teach various ways such as to teach by using picture. Using picture for teaching will motivate the interest of students. The second, teaching English using ICT it about teaching by use web based. Web make a students get knowledge that various because it have many web. Therefore, teacher should teach by use web for succeed both learning and teaching. And the last, pronunciation teaching that is a recipe for discouragement both for teachers and students. Refinements can come later if the student wants to put more effort and time into learning nuances of spoken English. In this approach there are two key problems with pronunciation teaching. Firstly it tends to be neglected. And secondly when it is not neglected, it tends to be reactive to a particular problem that has arisen in the classroom rather than being strategically planned.

     In conclusion, I think every approaches are good. If teacher want to know teaching are succeed or not teacher can evaluated from a task of students.

Reading skills (outside class)

      In Thailand have a several place that are interest. Many people take an interest because each place has different identity.

      Thailand has four part that is north, east, west and south. In each part it has different identity. Therefore, in each part has more interest place but now I will talk about south. South has fourteen province but now it has one province that are interest for foreigner and Thai people that is Nakhon Sri Thammarat province. Nakhon Sri Thammarat has many places that are interest specially Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan. Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan is tourist attraction and place worthy of being worshipped. Moreover, Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan don’t have shadow which it is different with each place. And that important, in soon committee has endorsed Wat Phra Mahathat Nakhon Si Thammarat for inclusion on its tentative list for consideration as a World Heritage site.

   I agree with this news because announcing good news it is a good thing that everybody should be do. Since, It is promoting our country for people in world to know and come to travel in our country.

Learning Log (In side class)

    Today I learn about six approaches that is task-based learning, project based learning and four skills. All approaches teaching help student to learn by themself. Therefore, student should plan learning statement every time for prepare themselves before learning every time.

     The first, task-based learning, this approach teaching about teaching by focus on task. Therefore, task will be succeed when learner understand content which teacher teach in class. Since, when students understand content a task will be perfect.

     The second, project based learning, this approach about teaching that focus on student. A form of learning is developing knowledge and skills by part from task. Therefore, project is one of learning management.

     The last one is four skills that is speaking, reading, writing and listening. When we learn a language, there are four skills that we need for complete communication. When we learn our native language, we usually learn to listen first, then to speak, then to read, and finally to write. These are called the four language skills.

      In conclude, every approach is teaching students to know, understand and develop knowledge of oneself.  Whenever, that students understand content everything will be clear. Moreover, teaching will be succeeded and students will receive more knowledge.

Proverbs tell how to succeed in life

      Many people usually live by belief and proverb that the elder tell. Therefore, each people there are different belief because other place and other person. Which, the human will be good or success it depend on belief and proverb that oneself believe.

     Nowadays, proverb are important for live of people. Since, proverb advises how to live. Proverb has many advantage it will be good or not good it depend on apply of each people. Since, someone usually apply into bad way and someone apply into a good way too. Therefore, proverb will be good or not good it depended on user because user is specific behavior of oneself not proverb.

     In conclusion, the human will be specific behavior of oneself not proverb. Therefore, the human should be believed in oneself rather than proverb.

Learning Log  ( In side class )

  In the second week on June 10, 2013. In this day I study about “Techniques and Principles in Language Teaching”. Therefore, today teacher asked to students for presentation in three groups. Which, who is presenter is group of A Belief of language Teaching, Content Based Learning and the last one is Problem Based Learning.

    The first technique, a belief of language teaching it about a belief of teacher that is learning which students confront the truth. In addition, students will be good learn if they hard working. Therefore, I can summarize in this technique that is this technique not teaching that is how teacher believe in, teacher will prepare instruction like that.

   The second, content based learning it about teaching organized around the content or information that students will acquire and not around the linguistic or other type of syllabus. Therefore, I can summarize that is this technique are using content into learning that is learning English from content. In addition, a learner is successful when the focus is on content rather than on mastery of language. In these method is an effective method of combining language and content learning. It appropriate for teaching Thai students.

   The last technique that is problem based learning. In this technique it about learning by using problem motivates students. Therefore, when students to face with problem they will aim learning for solve a problem. In addition, in this method are teaching about solving a problem in group. Therefore, teacher will offer the convenience for students.

   In conclusion, I think “Problem Based Learning” maybe make students are successful rather than “Belief of Language Teaching” and Content Based Learning. Since, problem based learning are teaching about solving a problem by themselves.

Transforming the Whole Class into Gossiping Group

     Many people believe in human are develop from animal. Which, people will talk only when there is something to talk about. Talking about the weather, prices, health, travel and entertainment are just a few of the various topics that people often address in their daily conversation. In addition, people listening language because they want to find out what the speaker is going to say.

    Transforming the whole class into gossip groups that is activity that some teacher applies into their class. This gossiping activity can divide students into group and to do activity with other person. This activity will successful it depend on attention and cooperate of students in class. In each group must be choose the leader of group for manage activity and coordinate with teacher and other person in group. The important factor in this activity that is topic that they will use in activity. Since, if don’t have topic, the activity cannot carry on. And in this activity composed of three activities and each activity composed of three stages.

    In conclusion, in this activity are not intended to teach student how to speak. Rather, they are attempts to help students speak more fluently by making use of their feelings about certain people.

          Many people believe love make them happy and sad. Therefore, they believe love will be happy or sad it depend on two people. Whatever, love is happen with two people but love will make happy or sad it depend on understanding of two people too. Therefore, when differ person and differ view point of love it be source of different of word “The definition of love”

      The definitions of love are many words such as love is feeling of two people and love is giving good things with someone that they love.  The first definition that is love is feeling of two people. Therefore, love will be beautiful or not it depends on two people too. If two people understand love of them, love will be beautiful. And the last, love is giving good things with someone that they love. Therefore, giving will not unlimited for example: to give a smile, to give a happiness and etc.

      The definitions of love of each person are different so love will be happy or sad it depend on two people.
